Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us via the contact form on the 'Book-Session' page, if you cannot find an answer to your question below.

It is remote therapy (counselling & psychotherapy) provided by qualified therapists over a video interface, so that you and your therapist can see each other as you talk. SafeHaven tele-health support has a range of different types of support (see pathways for more information). Psychological support provides guidance and counselling on a whole range of topics to help with personal life and work-related difficulties.

Each work environment has its own particular stressors, challenges, and demands. We are also human, and have 'life stress' from things going on outside of work.

It is therefore normal to experience periods where life feels especially challenging and managing the demands on your time and energy can become almost overwhelming. Reaching out and having confidential support from a trained professional can help. This service is provided because your welfare is important, and your team wants you to feel happy, healthy and supported.

Yes, support is strictly confidential. No information about your sessions will be provided to your employer.

Reach out if you find you want help with events and issues that are affecting your everyday life, whether at work on in your personal life. Support covers general and more specialist topics:

  • Mental health support
  • Neurodiversity challenges
  • Bereavement, grief and loss
  • Psychological shock/acute stress
  • Psychological trauma
  • Struggling with work matters
  • Guidance about supporting others

When you reach out, our admin team will liaise with you to arrange a convenient time and date for an initial discovery session with one of our team. Most people use our secure online booking system - and the admin team will send you that link after you reach out.

Once you have booked-in your first session, the admin team will send you an appointment confirmation. Your therapist will then send you a secure link to your session on our tele-health platform. All you will need to do is click on the link to attend your session.

No. All you need to do is request a session. Your therapist, as the professional, will work with you to explore what pathway is needed, according to why you are reaching out and the help you are seeking.

When your appointment is arranged you will receive a link to our HIPAA compliant, secure tele-health platform for your appointment. If you cannot access online support, then we can use the phone.

Absolutely yes. Some of our team are multilingual. All of the team are trained in working with interpreters. Our interpreters are experienced in mental-health support, and we cover most languages. Simply let us know your preferred language when you first reaah out and we will get that arranged.

Generally, yes. As long as you are comfortable and feel you can build trust with the therapist you start working with, then they can remain your therapist going forward. This helps to ensure you never have to explain your situation to more than one person if possible. This will be discussed with you at the start of support to ensure you are working with someone who feels a good fit for you.

A typical example of when a person may opt to change therapist is when a person requires a therapist with specialist training (for example EMDR), then we may support a move to a member of the team experienced in that intervention.

If you use the service more than once, then on future times you access the service we will check if you wish to remain with the therapist you worked with previously, or if you would like to try someone new.

What do people say about the experience?

My therapist at SafeHaven was absolutely wonderful to work with. Despite coming from very different cultural backgrounds, she always approached our sessions with genuine respect and cultural awareness. She provided incredible support during one of my darkest periods and was exactly what I needed: professional, empathetic, and truly present. I can't recommend her and the service highly enough. She's an exceptional therapist who combines technical excellence with authentic human understanding.

I was sceptical about attending sessions. I have to admit that I was wrong, the sessions have helped me so much. Talking through issues and situations has helped me to understand where my anxieties were coming from. My Therapist was experienced and would let me talk through issues, before advising on techniques to overcome anxiety.

Reaching out is the hardest part, along with opening up. but once you get past the fear and accept the help, just be ready because it give you a whole new outlook on life. I don’t necessarily feel like a new person, but more like a clarified, accepted human (for once) I honestly can’t thank my therapist's support enough. I feel so ready and prepared to continue living and doing human things.
